On a whim this week my husband and I decided to visit the Drouot auction house in Paris as we had heard it was quite fun to see in action. When we arrived I discovered that they just happened to be having a big Chanel and Louis Vuitton sale going on in one of the rooms. After leaving the auction house, going for lunch, and then returning after feeling pangs of regret, I ended up buying a Louis Vuitton purse! I had never been to an auction before, let alone participated in one with bidding in a foreign language. It was quite thrilling and a little nerve racking as the bidding went so fast - I didn't even believe that I had won!
I'm quite happy with my new LV Speedy 30, and the price I paid for it (much, much less than retail). It has a nice patina to it (as the write up from the auction house says) and is in quite good shape. A little polish on the brass lock and it will look as good as new!
Me, following the auction with my new purchase. |
