Weekend Links

Weekend links

It's my birthday tomorrow and I'm so excited for this weekend! We're going to have friends over for brunch, and then we're going to put up our Christmas tree! I think we're also going to curl up on the couch tonight with some hot chocolate and watch my favourite Christmas movie Love, Actually! I hope you have a cozy weekend, and here are a few fun links from the web...

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are engaged! They seem super happy and in love! And I might just have a giant girl crush on Meghan. She's smart, successful, a feminist, an activist, beautiful, and has great style to boot! I did a deep-dive through this style blog and I love her classic, minimalist, take-no-nonsense style. I'm looking forward to see how she grows into her new role and life.

I started to read this book following the above news. So far I am underwhelmed. I'm not a big fan of chick lit (god, how I hate that term), and this book falls firmly in that category and is a bit too fluffy for me.

If you're in Montreal this weekend check out souk@sat. It's the most amazing Christmas market full of beautifully designed pieces. It's one of my favourite things to do in Montreal over the holiday season. Runs today through Sunday at the Society for arts and technology, 1201 Blvd. Saint-Laurent, Montreal. (I'll have a post up next week about my favourite Christmas markets in Montreal)

I ordered a pair of these moccasins to be my house slippers a few weeks ago, and I love them! They are super comfortable and keep my feet the perfect temperature. I've had quite a few pairs of shearling slippers over the years, and I find that they don't last long—my feet get too sweaty in them, and then the slippers take on a bit of an odor... I'm even thinking of getting a second pair of moccasins (maybe with the hard sole) to wear outside.

I love reading gift guides. But I'm enjoying Erin's take on simpler gifts here and here. I constantly feel the pull between trying to simplify our lives and be less consumerist, and wanting to buy ALL THE THINGS. Any tips on how to walk away from the pull of shiny new things?

I think we're going to make this for brunch this weekend. It's become our go to recipe for when we have friends over. It's a bit indulgent, but so, so good.

We're getting into the Christmas spirit over here—it's so cute my husband is so excited for Christmas this year—and it's time to get some baking done. These are some of my favourite Christmas treats!

Have a great weekend!

XOXO
